What Do You Need:
- 5 Granny Smith Apples, or 2 pounds, thinly sliced
- 2-3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup light packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup uncooked rolled oats
- 4 tablespoons butter
Directions:
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Combine the apples, cinnamon, sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt and in a medium bowl and combine.Place this apple mixture aside in a baking dish.
- Next, mix together the oats, brown sugar, flour and the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt, in a medium sized bowl Blend in the butter and mix until the butter is well combined.
- Sprinkle the above topping onto the apple mixture evenly and pop it into the oven.
- Bake until the topping is crispy and the apples are tender, which should take around 50 to 60 minutes. Once done, let it cool on rack for at least half an hour before serving.
Tip: You should adjust the sugar stated in this oatmeal apple crisp recipe according to the sweetness of the apples and to taste. Use 2 tablespoons if they are extremely sweet, and 3 tablespoons if they are on the tart side.
